Laos Day 01 Sunset at Mt. Phousi & Dinner at Night Market

Luang Prabang is so "photogenic", I'm not even sure where to begin. One fine place to start would be its main attraction, Mt. Phousi. Located at the heart of the city, the peak gives a commanding view of the city and the picturesque surroundings including the Mekong River. However, scaling up the peak is no easy feat and it does not come cheap either at 20,000 kips a person. Nevertheless, the view is well worth it and sunsets will not get any better than up here.
See map here.
The Wat at the peak is one of the 33 (I think!) Wats around town. Situated at a perfect location, the Wat reflects the golden rays of the sun thus creating a majestic grandeur.
The sort of view that can be enjoyed at Mt. Phousi.
Already, the tourists have helped themselves on sought after seats for the best view of the sunset.
6.30pm would be good time to be up here in Mt. Phousi. This would give ample time to explore the Wat and to enjoy the view before securing a prime seat. Optionally, I would recommend having slow music while  immersing yourself in the sea of gold.
Once the sun has set at the peak, another action is springing to live at the foot of the hill. I'm referring to the night market along the main street that is available daily. This market sells many things from jewelries, handicrafts to coffee beans and clothing. This is an excellent place to try out your bargaining skills too.
One thing not to be missed are the fruit shakes that are ubiquitous at the market because they are so cheap. It only costs 5000 kips (US 60cents) a cup. I was very ambitious below trying to take a mango shake and banana shake at the same time. I'm just joking, the banana shake belongs to Huey.
There is a variety of food to choose from the hawkers if you fancy including papaya salad, soo-moo (fermented pork), grilled fish / chicken on sticks and many more.
Likes : Nothing beats the market. It's not crowded and not hot.
Dislikes : I nearly exhausted myself with all the walking and climbing.
