Below is the view of the main street Sisavangvong Rd taken from the Luang Prabang Bakery and Guesthouse. Each building lined along this road has it's own character. Typically, their windows are tall with wooden panels and the tiles of the roof are meticulously laid to form layers after layers of protection for the house (Bottom).
See map here.
Inside the guesthouse, it is furnished with sturdy & dark red woods that add classiness to the interior deco (Bottom).
The shared verandah on the first floor of the guesthouse (Bottom). Lazy chairs and coffee tables are provided for chilling out and to observe the daily routine of people in LP. Perfect spot to write the travel log!
Our first meal in LP in this restaurant called "Garden..." or some sort. We were taken to backyard of the restaurant that has superb atmosphere (Bottom). Not too long after we have seated, it started to drizzle. The drizzle then turns to a shower. The sound created when the rain drums on the umbrella and splashes on the mini pool just besides us created a soothing symphony.
Usually on trips, the first meal would not be what you really expect but this time around, the choices turned out to be just fine. I have to take credit for bringing along the print-outs of the "must-try" local dishes in LP hehe. Clockwise from left: LP sausages (Deep fried fermented pork sausages), Or Lam (The best choice by far ordered by Huey), Lao green tea and love-shaped steam rice (courtesy of the friendly waiter).
Quaint alleys are ubiquitous all around the town (1st and 2nd bottom). Not only are the alleys clean and well manicured, they are safe too. The light shower just adds magic to the place.
The unpolluted environment and fertile earth is evident on the trees and flowers that dots LP. Fruits and flowers grow in abundant with vivid colours (Bottom).
Local kids enjoying a simple past time at the puddle of water after the rain (Bottom). Their "toy" is quite an engineering feat by just using sticks and straws to create a floating boat.
Likes : Quaint alleys, unique buildings, interesting food & fresh air.
Would be nice if ... there is electricity on our first day of arrival!
