Taiwan 2011 Food!

Taipei 101 at downtown
Ah, Taiwan the land of good food, temperate climate and affordable shopping and...have I mentioned abundance of good food? Oops by now, you've probably guessed my main objective of the trip. Nevertheless, girls are still allowed to go GaGa over dresses, shoes and bubble teas though.

Assorted pasteries on display

Delicious looking cake

Fusion cakes

Tonkatsu set for only TW$200
Japanese have left a strong mark in Taiwan after a long 50 years rule. This is most evident in the selection of japanese food available.
Drinks corner in 7-11
Taking a short breather from food =) The drinks selection in 7-11 is a good place start.
Fried Dough Fritters (油炸傀)
and Roasted Soyabean drink
(侸乃)
This particular shop that sells fried dough fritters tasted different from what we get in Malaysia. It is less crunchy but more aromatic. The soyabean drink taste different as well as it has a lingering "burnt" aroma but which is intended after being reminded by my friend. When taken together, they are a delightful breakfast combo.

Food...
Set lunches in Taipei 101 food court
More food...
Squid Okonomiyaki..Yummy
Even more food...
Cold  noodles with peanut sauce (涼麵)
涼麵 is a national obsession as you can get it almost anywhere. Eaten cold with peanut sauce, it actually reminds me alot of the satay sauce.

And more...
Stewed meat noodle(鲁肉麵)
鲁肉麵 is probably the extension of 鲁肉饭 (Stewed meat rice) but it tastes just as good. An interesting option is to have the noodles without the meat and to order, just shout Sha Gua Mian (傻瓜麵) which literally translates as stupid noodles.

Some more...
Instant Noodles
At the end of the day, we had instant noodles for supper.
Egg sandwich
Started off the next morning with - you guessed it - food.
Fried seaweed
Fried seaweed is a great snack to go around inYeliu. Whatsmore, the seaweeds are harvested locally. Get ready a bottle of water next to you because you'll need it since you'll be very thirsty after eating the seaweed.
This is actually an
ice-cream dessert
Local specialty dessert that consists of 2 scoops of ice-cream, chinese parsley and peanut flakes wrapped in popiah skin. Interesting huh? You can get this in Jiufen.
Taro balls in sweet soup
One last picture of food because if I don't stop, I can go on and on. Now that we have set the records straight, lets enjoy Taiwan in my next post!
